Sunday 3rd May: Corfe Castle is where our ramble begins, an interesting and scenic circular walk of 6 miles. A woodland and heathland route on parts of The Purbeck Way and Poole Harbour Trail, as far as Scotland Farm. Moderate climb at start, but otherwise fairly easy going throughout. Four stiles. Our next ramble is on Sunday 26th April from Sturminster Newton. Morning: 6 miles walk. Flood plain meadows route towards Bagber, Cutt Mill and return via The Stour Valley Way. Minterne Magna
Sunday 29th March: (NB. British Summertime starts at 2am). This week's Sunday ramble starts from Minterne Magna, on the A 352 road 10 miles north of Dorchester and 10 miles south of Sherborne. It's approx. a 6 mile circular upland walk over downland and through woods west of the village. Sunday 22nd March: We will be walking from Yellowham Hill, 3 miles NE of Dorchester, for an approx. 6 miles circular walk, around and north of Puddletown Forest (not the same walk as last time). Sunday 15th March Walk: Our ramble begins in Symondsbury (Off the B3162, 1.5 miles West of Bridport Town Centre) and is a 5 to 6 miles circular walk in lovely countryside to the N & W of Symondsbury, taking in the famous hollow-way path and Colmers Hill (optional). Sixpenny Handley
Walk details for Sunday 8th March: Meet in Sixpenny Handley, 11 miles NE of Blandford Forum for a circular route of 6.5 to 7.5 miles over parts of Cranborne Chase and the Rushmore Estate. Fairly easy going over gently rolling, lightly wooded downland terrain, on mostly firm tracks and footpaths. Mud shouldn’t be a problem. Weymouth
We will be walking from Weymouth on Sunday 15th, an approx. 7 miles circular walk around Lorton Meadows & Lodmoor Nature Reserves, towards Bowleaze Cove (all subject to ground / weather conditions). Our next ramble starts from Milton Abbas on Sunday 8th February and is approx. 7 miles circular walk to Winterborne Clenston & return. Walk details for Sunday 1st February: Approx. 6 to 7 miles circular walk from West Lulworth. Long coastal views. Moderate, with some climbs and descents. Parts of the route are fairly exposed to bad weather. Lunch. Please bring a drink / snack / picnic etc. (There are one or two local village cafes, but they might be on 'Winter opening hours' .....i.e. closed). West Lulworth, cancelled
Tomorrow's walk cancelled. Please note that tomorrow's coastal walk at Lulworth has been cancelled. I think it's a wise decision by Liz given the continuing very wet and windy weather and the very slippery and muddy conditions. We will re-schedule the same walk for a better day.

Sunday 11th January 2026 walk details, weather permitting: We'll be walking from Ashmore (Dorset's highest village), which is approx. 5 miles SE of Shaftesbury. Our first ramble of the New Year is on Sunday 4th January from Broadmayne, which is on the A352, 4 miles SE of Dorchester. Approx. 6 miles circular walk over adjacent downland and wooded countryside. Merry Christmas. Sturminster Newton is the start for our next ramble which is on Sunday 28th December. It's to be a 'fig. of 8' walk. AM: 6 mls - around Fiddleford Mill, Piddles Wood and Broad Oak. Tarrant Rushton
Next ramble details: Sunday 21st December starting from near Tarrant Rushton, approx 4 miles east of Blandford Forum. It will be a circular walk above the Tarrant valley and Manswood.
