Ashmore

Sunday 11th January 2026 walk details, weather permitting:

We'll be walking from Ashmore (Dorset's highest village), which is approx. 5 miles SE of Shaftesbury.

It is a 7.75 miles circular walk over downland, but mostly on good woodland paths & tracks. A generally sheltered route. Mostly fairly easy going, but muddy in places if ground not frozen. A long steady climb for last 2 miles or so - but not particularly steep and not strenuous. Lovely elevated countryside and long views.

Lunch en-route. Remember to bring any snacks, hot drinks, picnic etc.
